Borjomi is a resort town in south-central Georgia. It is one of the districts of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region and is situated in the northwestern part of the region in the picturesque Borjomi Gorge on the eastern edge of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. Borjomi is also home to the most extensive ecologically-themed amusement park in the Caucasus.
Borjomi’s mineral water park, dating back to 1850, occupies a narrow wooded valley and includes the town’s original mineral water source, Ekaterina Spring, which is straight ahead of the entrance.
Tsagveri mineral water and natural cozy park, that’s the place where you can fill up your lungs with fresh forest air and taste one of the most healthy mineral naturally carbonated water. On the way to Tsagveri you will be driven through upper Borjomi central park and pass several villages in the mountains.
Timotesubani is a medieval Georgian Orthodox Christian monastic complex located at the eponymous village in the Borjomi Gorge, Georgia’s Samtskhe-Javakheti region. The complex consists of a series of structures built between the 11th and 18th centuries, of which the Church of the Dormition is the largest and artistically most exquisite edifice constructed during the “Golden Age” of medieval Georgia under Queen Tamar (r. 1184-1213). The interior was extensively frescoed in no later than 1220s. The Timotesubani murals are noted for their vivacity and complexity of iconographic program.
